Healthcare with dignity, supported by compassion.

Adamjee Hospital is a charitable healthcare initiative of Adamjee Foundation, working to make sure that financial hardship does not stand between a deserving patient and essential medical care. We are a small, growing hospital, built and sustained through Zakat, Sadaqah and the generosity of our community.

Why We Exist

Distance and cost should not decide who gets treated.

For a large number of families in our community, a doctor’s visit is not a routine decision. It is a choice between medical care and other essential needs. A fever left untreated, a wound left unattended or a chronic condition left unmanaged often has less to do with a lack of awareness and more to do with the simple cost of getting help. Adamjee Foundation established Adamjee Hospital to respond to this directly, by providing a place where deserving patients can receive consultation, medicine and diagnostic support without the cost being the deciding factor.

We are, by design, a small and growing hospital. Rather than announce services before we can deliver them responsibly, we have chosen to build our capacity in phases by strengthening our primary healthcare, women’s healthcare, pharmacy and diagnostic services first, while working steadily toward emergency, surgical and advanced diagnostic capacity. This approach means that when we say a service is available, it genuinely is.

This growth is made possible by Zakat, Sadaqah and general charity from individuals, families and organizations who believe that healthcare should not be out of reach for people simply because they cannot afford it. Every consultation held, every prescription filled and every test completed at Adamjee Hospital reflects that support.

For Patients and Families

How patients receive care at Adamjee Hospital

We designed this process to be simple and respectful. Patients requiring financial assistance are never asked to explain themselves in public. Every conversation with our welfare desk is kept private.

01

Contact or visit the hospital

Come to the hospital during OPD hours or call ahead if you would like guidance before your visit. Walk-ins are welcome for most primary healthcare services.

02

Speak with the registration or welfare team

Our welfare desk will register your visit and, if you are requesting financial assistance, ask a few respectful questions to understand your circumstances.

03

Complete a basic medical and eligibility assessment

A physician will assess your medical needs. If financial assistance has been requested, our welfare team will confirm what support you are eligible for.

04

Receive available treatment, medicines, testing or referral support

You will receive consultation, medicine or diagnostic services directly where we are equipped to provide them or a clear referral with support if your case needs specialist care.

Free and Subsidized Care

Two levels of support, one standard of care

Every patient is treated with the same care and attention regardless of what they are able to pay. What differs is how the cost of treatment is covered.

Free care

Patients assessed by our welfare desk as facing significant financial hardship receive consultation, medicine and available diagnostic services at no cost, based on what our current resources allow.

Subsidized care

Patients who can contribute something toward their treatment, but not the full cost, are charged a reduced rate. This allows us to stretch donations further across more patients.

When advanced services require external support

Some services, such as MRI imaging or procedures requiring an operation theatre, are not yet available on-site. In these cases, we provide honest guidance and referral support rather than delaying a patient with a service we cannot yet deliver.

Zakat

Zakat, applied responsibly to eligible patients

Adamjee Foundation aims to manage Zakat funds responsibly and apply them toward eligible patients according to its approved Zakat policy. Donors can choose Zakat when giving. Our team is glad to answer any questions about how it is handled.

Zakat funds are tracked separately

Contributions marked as Zakat are recorded separately from general charity and Sadaqah donations, so they can be applied specifically toward eligible patients in line with our Zakat policy.

Eligibility is assessed before funds are applied

Before Zakat funds are used toward a patient's treatment, that patient's eligibility is reviewed by our welfare desk according to criteria set out in our Zakat policy.

Donors can choose Zakat when donating

Our donation form lets you specify that your contribution is Zakat, so it is recorded and applied accordingly rather than mixed into general funds.

This page provides general guidance and does not constitute a religious ruling. Our Zakat policy is subject to review by a qualified Islamic scholar or Zakat advisory body.

Ways to Give

Choose exactly what your donation supports

Rather than a single general fund, you can direct your donation to a specific need, from a single consultation to becoming a monthly supporter.

Where We Are Headed

Adamjee Hospital is in an early, deliberate growth phase

We would rather grow honestly than promise services before we can deliver them. These are the priority projects that would let us treat more patients and handle more complex cases directly on-site.

Expanded Emergency Department

Extending emergency ward hours and adding staff and equipment so urgent cases are never turned away.

Funding in Progress

MRI Facility Installation

Bringing MRI imaging on-site so patients no longer need to travel and pay for advanced diagnostics elsewhere.

Planned

Fully Equipped Operation Theatres

Building operation theatres that let us perform a wider range of procedures directly at the hospital.

Planned

Ambulance Service

Providing safe, timely transport for patients who cannot reach the hospital or a referral facility on their own.

Why Support Us

What your support actually makes possible

01

A clear focus on patients with limited financial means

Our resources are directed at the patients least able to access care elsewhere, not spread thin across everyone regardless of need.

02

Direct support for essential healthcare needs

Your donation funds concrete things, such as a consultation, a course of medicine or a laboratory test, rather than abstract overhead.

03

Transparent donation categories

You choose exactly what your donation supports, from a single service to general hospital development.

04

Locally focused community impact

We serve the community immediately around us, where we understand the specific barriers patients face.

05

Responsible, phase-by-phase development

We expand our services deliberately, so that what we offer today is genuinely available, not aspirational.

06

A commitment to patient dignity

Every patient, regardless of ability to pay, is treated with the same respect and privacy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we hear most

Is all treatment at Adamjee Hospital completely free?
Not all treatment is free for every patient. We provide free care to patients assessed as facing genuine financial hardship and subsidized (reduced-cost) care to others based on their circumstances. A small number of patients who can afford standard fees are asked to pay them, which helps us extend free care to those who need it most. Every patient is assessed individually and with respect.
Who qualifies for financial assistance?
Financial assistance is generally intended for low-income patients who cannot afford the cost of consultation, medicine or diagnostic testing. Our welfare desk carries out a simple, respectful assessment based on your circumstances. See our Patient Eligibility page for full details on how this works.
Are emergency services available 24 hours a day?
Not yet. Our emergency ward currently operates during selected hours as staffing and equipment allow. We are actively working to expand this toward round-the-clock coverage. See our Expansion Projects page for progress. Please call the hospital directly to confirm current emergency coverage before traveling in a non-life-threatening situation. In a true emergency, please go to the nearest available emergency department.
Is MRI currently available at the hospital?
No. MRI imaging is not yet available on-site. It is one of our key expansion goals. Until an MRI facility is installed, patients who need MRI imaging are referred to a partner facility. You can follow our progress on this project on the Expansion Projects page.
Can I donate Zakat to Adamjee Hospital?
Yes. You can choose Zakat as your donation type on our Donate page. Zakat contributions are tracked separately from general charity and applied toward eligible patients according to our Zakat policy. Please see our dedicated Zakat page for more detail.
Can I sponsor a specific patient's treatment?
Yes. Our Sponsor a Patient program allows donors to fund a specific patient's course of treatment, from consultation through medicine and any required testing. Visit our Sponsor a Patient page to learn how this works and how patient privacy is protected throughout.
Can I donate medical equipment?
Yes. Medical equipment donations are an important part of how we grow our services. Please get in touch through our Partner With Us page so our team can discuss current equipment needs and coordinate the donation.
Will I receive a receipt for my donation?
Yes. You can request a receipt when you make your donation or afterward through our Receipt Request form. Please allow our team time to confirm your payment before a receipt is issued.
