About Adamjee Hospital

A charitable hospital built on dignity, not charity for show

Adamjee Hospital is a charitable healthcare initiative managed by Adamjee Foundation. We help low-income and financially vulnerable patients receive essential medical care without cost being the deciding factor. Care is free for those assessed as facing genuine hardship and subsidised for those able to contribute. We remain deliberately focused, building services in careful phases so our commitments reflect what patients can genuinely access.

Our Story

Our Story and Why We Exist

Affordability should not determine whether someone receives necessary medical care.

For many local families, seeing a doctor means weighing health against food, rent or a child’s schooling. Adamjee Foundation established Adamjee Hospital to answer that reality with consultations, medicine and diagnostic support for people whose finances would otherwise delay treatment. Its charitable role is practical: meet an immediate health need without making hardship a source of shame.

The hospital serves low-income and financially vulnerable patients from the surrounding area. Support is based on genuine need and available resources: care may be free for those facing hardship or subsidised for those able to contribute. We are intentionally growing in stages, adding capacity only when a service can be offered responsibly and dependably. This measured approach keeps the focus on useful local care rather than promises the hospital is not yet equipped to fulfil.

The Problem and Our Response

The Need We Respond To

Everyday costs and practical obstacles can turn a treatable condition into a serious problem. Our response is focused on useful care and clear communication.

Consultation costs

A doctor’s fee can be beyond the means of a family already stretching every rupee.

Medicine costs

Treatment may stop when the prescribed medicine cannot be afforded.

Diagnostic testing

Essential blood work and imaging may be skipped because of cost.

Transport difficulties

Reaching distant care can cost time and money a patient does not have.

Nearby facilities

Affordable, trustworthy medical support is not always available close to home.

Delayed treatment

Postponed care can allow a manageable condition to become more serious.

How we respond

  • Respect every patient’s dignity
  • Provide responsible medical support
  • Keep care accessible where possible
  • Communicate honestly with families
  • Refer patients when advanced care is required

Values that guide our work

Compassion

We see the person as well as the condition.

Dignity

Financial hardship never lessens a patient’s worth.

Responsibility

We treat medical decisions and donated funds with care.

Accessibility

We work to reduce practical barriers to treatment.

Transparency

We communicate what we can provide clearly and honestly.

Community Service

Our work is rooted in the needs around us.

Our Development Journey

Growing in Deliberate Phases

Progress follows available support rather than a fixed calendar, helping each service remain dependable as capacity expands.

  1. Phase 1

    Primary Care

The hospital began with everyday essentials: general consultations, women’s healthcare, basic diagnostics and pharmacy support for patients unable to afford medicine.

  2. Phase 2

    Stronger Foundations

We are consolidating primary and women’s care, laboratory testing, X-ray, pharmacy support and basic emergency response while clearly communicating availability.

  3. Phase 3

    Expanding Capacity

Near-term priorities include extending emergency coverage, broadening laboratory testing, adding ultrasound capacity and maintaining a more dependable medicine stock.

  4. Phase 4

    Long-Term Community Care

Future plans include MRI, operation theatres, a maternal and women’s health unit, additional beds and an ambulance service, introduced only when they can be delivered responsibly.

See current priorities on the Support Us page.

Transparency and Community Commitment

Accountable to the Community We Serve

Trust is earned through responsible decisions, truthful information and steady involvement from the people and organisations around the hospital.

Transparency

  • Responsible use of donations
  • Honest communication
  • Clear hospital priorities
  • Appropriate patient referrals

Community

  • Local healthcare support
  • Community awareness
  • Volunteer involvement
  • Support for underserved families

A Message from Adamjee Foundation

“We started this hospital because too many people around us were going without needed care for no reason other than cost. We are growing slowly and honestly. We would rather be trusted for what we genuinely provide than admired for what we claim. If you are a patient, come to us. If you are able to give, your support helps someone facing a real barrier to treatment.”
